Communication is very important for students coming to Turkey for education. In this context, ready-made SIM cards that they can use from the moment they arrive in Turkey are a great convenience. This way, students can stay in touch from the moment they set foot in Turkey.
Turkcell, Turkey’s leading mobile operator, offers special SIM cards and packages for students. These packages usually include 200 minutes of talk time and 20 GB of Internet per month. For additional needs, students can easily add more.
In order to activate the Turkcell 3-month prepaid SIM card, students are required to provide certain documents. These documents are
– Photo of the SIM card
– Photo of the main page of the passport
– Photo of the entry stamp page of the passport
These documents must be emailed to the company to complete the activation of the SIM card.
Foreigners over the age of 18 who have a foreigner’s identification number (FIN) can register a device via the e-government system. The e-Government password received from PTT is used for this procedure. Foreigners who have a FIN can carry out registration procedures via the e-Government system.
Registration procedures for diplomats, military personnel, students and resident foreigners who do not have a FIN are carried out at Subscriber Registration Centres. These persons must present the original of their passport or identity card, as well as documents such as a certificate from the school where they are studying or a residence permit. Persons under the age of 18 may be registered by their parents or legal representatives.
Foreigners who do not have the above-mentioned documents can register their equipment with a single line number. In this case, they can go to the Subscriber Registration Centres with their own subscription contract and original passport. After the original registration document has been seen by the Subscriber Registration Centre officials, the “Original Seen” stamp and the Subscriber Registration Centre stamp will be printed on the application. The documents received are sent electronically to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority. This process enables students to communicate smoothly during their education in Turkey.
